Foodie Travel Date Destination Ideas

Visit a foodie destination for the weekend. Book a few nights in any of these places known for outstanding culinary experiences: New Orleans, Chicago, Miami, Paris, Barcelona, and Singapore.

These are just a few suggestions but there are so many destinations to travel to as a couple where you can spend time together exploring your culinary love.

Foodie Date Travel Tours

Taking a food tour is one of my favorite travel and dating activities.

You could book a guided one offered by a local company or you can create one of your own. The perfect place to create your own “food tour” would be the eternally romantic city of Venice, Italy. An evening of wandering from one bacaro to another eating cicchetti and sipping wine is a perfect foodie travel date.

Another such city to take a tour would be Barcelona where tasting tapas and sipping cava is a lovely way to spend an evening.

Try out some of these adventurous foodie dates with your partner if you both like to try new food experiences, a Supper Club, tapas, or dim sum.

Foraging Foodie Date

Spend your weekend mushroom hunting or strawberry picking.

Depending on the season and where you travel there are many alluring options.

Or maybe something a little less known, like truffle hunting. If you thought Willamette Valley, Oregon was known only for wine, think again. Why not book yourself a truffle-hunting adventure? followed up with some wine of course.

Foodie Date Picnic

Plenty of travel destinations offer the perfect location to enjoy the great outdoors. Taking those moments to simply enjoy nature and each other’s company lends itself to a near-perfect date.

A picnic basket filled with yummy munchies can create a charming foodie date. Head over to the local farmer’s market or gourmet grocery to pack a romantic picnic for two.

Make it a surprise for your partner and fill the basket with favorites. You could make it a guessing game as you reveal each item.

Some romantic picnic ideas could include:

  • Caviar
  • Wine
  • Cheese
  • Lox
  • Olives
  • Cured meats
  • Berries
  • Grapes
  • Nuts
  • A baguette
  • Chocolates

You could pack it all into an updated vintage-look picnic basket or a trendy and convenient picnic backpack like these.

Foodie Travel Lingering Dinner Date

Indulge in a lingering dinner with a tasting menu or a private spot at the chef’s table.

A huge foodie city to indulge in this is New York. One place to try would be Sixty-Three Clinton in NYC’s Lower East Side. They offer an intimate seven-course menu to remember.

For the ultimate in elegance and romance try french restaurant Daniel. You can reserve The Skybox, a private dining room only available by special request. Indulge in an eight-course tasting menu in complete privacy.

If you are lucky enough to be enjoying a lingering foodie night in NYC don’t forget to end it at Max Brenner’s with a Chocolate martini. The chocolate lover in you will thank me.

Foodie Beach Date

A lazy lingering day at the beach can make for a great day. A romantic, private dinner for two with your toes in the sand is even better. Little Palms Island Resort is a luxury resort set on a private Island in the Florida Keys. Have your own personal chef create a meal for you in your private paradise

Foodie Drinking Date

Head to wine country and sip some Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa Valley, California. Make the date even more memorable with a unique experience on The Wine Train. Several options for wine tasting also include a gourmet meal.

Maybe wine is not your thing but beer is. If that’s the case you could visit what is known as Beer City USA, Asheville, North Carolina.

It is said to have the most breweries per capita in the U.S. Any beer-loving couple would love a weekend here.

Use the Asheville Ale Trail to plan your visit. In addition to brewery hopping, Ashville is filled with all kinds of couple activities such as hiking and offers amazing culinary options as well.

Staycation Foodie Date

Maybe for whatever reason, travel does not fit into your plans at the moment.

Don’t let that get in the way of your foodie travel date.

With a little imagination, you could bring a favorite travel destination to your home for the evening.

Why not plan an Italian escape or a French getaway without ever leaving your house?

Embrace the theme and create the atmosphere with a few simple touches.

Set the stage with candles and flowers. Turn down the lights and light the fireplace. Let your creativity go wild. Hire a local chef to come to you and cook a delicious international meal to make it even more special.

These are just a few suggestions for some romantic foodie getaways. There are so many destinations to travel to as a couple where you can spend time together exploring your culinary love.

And for the times you can’t travel too far away there are still plenty of foodie date ideas and options to abandon oneself to. You can take some of these ideas and modify them to your budget or travel limitations.
